Grant Applications You MUST be a teacher or long term substitute teacher under contract to one of our consortium schools in order to apply for a grant. GRANT DESCRIPTIONS SCHOOL YEAR STUDY GROUP GRANT - The study-group concept allows teachers to meet in an informal situation where they can learn, share, and investigate. The groups research and review the literature, visit model programs, and meet to discuss the potential of the practices or programs for their school or classrooms. The grant provides incentive stipends to group members for a designated number of hours and a set amount for resources. Application will be posted after September 15, 2008. CONFERENCE GRANTS - Conference grants are awarded to teachers to offer them the opportunity to attend a professional conference/training seminar in their field. Awards up to $400.00 are possible. This grant must be matched dollar per dollar by the individual applicant or their school district. Conferences MUST occur between July 1, 2008 and May 15, 2009 in order to be considered for this grant. Sorry, no faxes will be accepted since original signatures are required. Application will be posted on August 1, 2008. PEER VISITATION GRANT - Visitation grants are awarded to teachers in order to offer them the opportunity to observe and learn from each other. The primary purpose is to improve instructional practice. The focus is on helping teachers become more effective in the classroom. The Teacher Center will reimburse the school district for the cost of a substitute for the day. The final deadline for submission of applications is April 30, 2009. Sorry, no faxes will be accepted since original signatures are required. Application will be posted on August 1, 2008. PROGRAM CO-SPONSORSHIP GRANT - A Program Co-Sponsorship Grant can be awarded when a request has been made to the Teacher Center to be a co-sponsor of a professional growth activity. Food cannot be funded by the Teacher Center. Funds must be used for speakers, workshop presenters or supplies. Applications must be received prior to conference/program information being published so that if the grant is received, the Teacher Center can be noted as a co-sponsor. Grant applications will be accepted until April 3, 2009 or until all grant funds are committed. Program must take place prior to May 15, 2009. Programs occurring after that date cannot be funded. CURRICULUM INTEGRATION MINI-GRANT - The Curriculum Mini-Grant Program is designed to provide funding up to $500 for the implementation of an curriculum related project. The purpose of the Curriculum Mini-Grants is to provide the professional with the opportunity to develop innovative integrated projects suitable for the classroom. These projects must be referenced to the NYS Learning Standards, have classroom application and adhere to district procedures/policies. Application will be posted after September 15. 2008.
