The Teacher Center of Broome County strives to be a recognized leader in promoting professional growth and development for educators in the Teacher Center consortium. The Teacher Center's goal is to provide an avenue for these educators to channel the direction of their professional growth to increase their effectiveness in the classroom and promote higher student achievement.

WHO CAN USE THE TEACHER CENTER?
Every educator is a "member" of the Teacher Center of Broome County. While most of our programs are targeted to teachers and school staff, parents and other community members are welcome to take advantage of our workshops, seminars, resources and facilities. Staff members who are under contract to one of our consortium districts or schools are always given top priority. See listing of our consortium districts and schools under the Broome County Schools link.
WHAT'S AVAILABLE?
Equipment Loans
Ellison die cutting machine and dies, Classroom Performance Systems, laptop computers, multimedia projectors, digital video camera and tripod. Equipment may be signed out with proper school ID and training.
Material Preparation Area
Hot and cold laminating machines, spiral book binding machine, electric button maker, poster making station, computer workstations with Internet access, paper cutter, CD duplicator.
Resource Library
Educational books, videotapes, and periodicals.
Classroom/Meeting Space/Wireless Laptops
The classroom can be used for meetings or discussion groups. A lab of laptop computers with wireless Internet access can be set up for training in the classroom area.

Workshop
Requests |
Most workshops can be requested and held at your school site as long as a minimum of eight people attend.
Please note that most technology training workshops are not held off site.
Technology training workshops are held in the Teacher Center's computer lab. |

Teacher Centers provide professional development for teachers as decided by teachers and often provided by teachers.
We are always looking for teachers to share their great ideas and skills with other teachers. If you would like to present a workshop that you feel would be beneficial to other teachers please click this link: Workshop Presenter Form. Fill in the form and submit it to us electronically.
All proposals are reviewed by the TC program committee and if your proposal aligns with the identified needs and goals for the current year you will be contacted. |
